Infrared and Moisture Surveys for Commercial Roofs
Wet insulation holds heat differently than dry insulation. Surveys use that to map hidden water.

How infrared works
After a sunny day, wet areas release heat more slowly at night. A thermal camera shows them as warmer spots, which are then confirmed with core samples.
Other methods
Capacitance and impedance meters measure moisture in a grid. They work in daylight and on roofs where infrared struggles.
Using the results
A wet-area map tells you how much to replace, and whether a coating or recover is possible.
Common questions
- Does every roof suit infrared?
- No. Ballasted roofs and some insulation types read poorly. Other methods may be better.
- Do results need confirmation?
- Yes. Core cuts confirm what the scan shows.
