Before the roof goes on
Confirm submittals, deck readiness, and slope to drains. Taper plans should match where drains really are.
Protect the new roof
Plan where other trades will walk and stage. Late penetrations and dropped tools are common damage sources.
- Walk pads at equipment
- Penetration sign-off
- Daily roof checks near the end of the job
Closeout
Collect the warranty, as-built roof plan, and maintenance requirements for the owner.
Common questions
- Who handles rooftop penetrations?
- It varies by contract. Assign it clearly so flashing is done by the roofer.
